Interview practice sessions are one-to-one and tailored to the school(s) that each child is applying to. Interview practice is designed for students applying to the leading UK private schools at ages 11, 13 or 16.

Bring Out The Best

We help students to flourish in terms of conveying their own unique personality, interests, awareness of the world around them, intellectual engagement and all-round potential.

Boost Confidence

School interviews can be a really daunting thought for most students, especially if it’s their first one. Our mock interview sessions help boost a student’s confidence in public speaking and in conversing with an unfamiliar adult so that he/she is relaxed and self-assured during the real interview.

How online tuition works

Our Approach

  • We do not tell students “what to say.” Our goal is to guide students on how to clearly communicate their own individual enthusiasms, backgrounds and ideas. We guide students on how to think independently, on how to answer interview questions in a mature and sincere way and how to bring out the what is unique about them in a clear a way.
  • We are impartial. We pride ourselves on being completely independent and free of any conflicts of interest. Your interests and aspirations are our top priority.
  • Detailed feedback reports. Following the interviews, a detailed feedback report will be sent to parents that will highlight what specific areas each student needs to focus on in order to improve their interview technique and performance in the final weeks and months leading up to the real interview.

The Interviewer & Education Expert: Mr William Rees

Mr Rees has over 35 years’ experience in UK private education, almost all spent at Eton College. In addition to being a teacher at Eton, Mr Rees was an Eton Housemaster for 14 years (1987-2001) before becoming Head of Admissions for the school in 2001 until 2009. While Head of Eton Admissions, he developed a modernised and meritocratic form of assessment at age 11 for entry to the school at age 13, and was consulted by many other schools seeking to follow Eton’s pioneering example.

Since taking early retirement from Eton in 2009, he has been working as an independent consultant to senior schools. He advises on admissions and marketing strategy, structures, processes and communications, including the training of interviewers.

Since 2012, Mr Rees has been working with My Tutor Club offering both school interview practice to students and Schools Advisory sessions for parents. Over the last 3 years our students have won entry to the leading schools in the UK such as Eton College, Westminster, Winchester, St Paul’s, Harrow, Wycombe Abbey, King’s College Wimbledon and Cheltenham Ladies’ College to name just a few.

How online tuition works

Our tutor, along with guidance from Mr Rees, helped our son to further develop his self-esteem and confidence and this allowed him to succeed in his interviews at St Paul’s and Westminster. After his classes and practice interviews, our son was able to handle the subject matter and interviews
with outstanding results.

My son was very nervous and worried about the interview stage of his application. However, after several sessions with Mr Rees his confidence increased dramatically and he felt very prepared. We were delighted when we found out he had been accepted to his first choice school and we cannot thank MyTutorClub enough for their help!

I can’t thank you and Mr Rees enough! (Our son) just received a conditional place at Eton. We are over the moon. I can’t thank you enough

We were late in our preparation and new to the UK. Our son benefitted hugely from the one-to-one 11+ interview practice. The follow up report was immensely useful for my son to focus on his weak areas and by the second practice, his improved performance and confidence was evident to see. The Schools Advisory consultancy was just the kind of clear and independent guidance my husband and I were looking for. Excellent.
