Advisor & Education Expert: Mr William Rees
Mr Rees has over 35 years’ experience in UK private education, almost all spent at Eton College. In addition to being a teacher at Eton, Mr Rees was an Eton Housemaster for 14 years (1987-2001) before becoming Head of Admissions for the school in 2001 until 2009. While Head of Eton Admissions, he developed a modernised and meritocratic form of assessment at age 11 for entry to the school at age 13, and was consulted by many other schools seeking to follow Eton’s pioneering example.
Since taking early retirement from Eton in 2009, he has been working as an independent consultant to senior schools. He advises on admissions and marketing strategy, structures, processes and communications, including the training of interviewers.
Since 2012, Mr Rees has been working with My Tutor Club offering both school interview practice to students and Schools Advisory sessions for parents. Over the last 3 years our students have won entry to the leading schools in the UK such as Eton College, Westminster, Winchester, St Paul’s, Harrow, Wycombe Abbey, King’s College Wimbledon and Cheltenham Ladies’ College to name just a few.
We were late in our preparation and new to the UK. Our son benefitted hugely from the one-to-one 11+ interview practice. The follow up report was immensely useful for my son to focus on his weak areas and by the second practice, his improved performance and confidence was evident to see. The Schools Advisory consultancy was just the kind of clear and independent guidance my husband and I were looking for. Excellent.
Absolutely brilliant!! We could not have achieved what we have without My Tutor Club. The interview practice with Mr Rees improved my son’s confidence and his ability to share his opinions with another adult. The Schools Advisory was a master stroke; so clear and precise was the advice. The tutor from My Tutor Club was professional, exceptionally knowledgeable and a joy to be around. 15 out of 10!
