Focused on you

We are completely impartial and independent. We work entirely in your interests. This means providing you with bespoke advice on private tuition programmes and selecting schools and universities that are right for you. Our expert advice is free of any conflicts of interest and tailored to your specific requirements.

We believe that happy and confident learners are eager learners. Our central ethos is that learning should be relevant, engaging, challenging and fun. Our goal is always to try and make students want to learn more for themselves.

We believe private tutoring is more than just preparing students for exams; we believe private tuition is also about instilling in students core life skills that are applicable to all aspects of life; whether it be communication skills, organisational skills, evaluating arguments, analytical thinking, creativity, structuring and forming arguments and asking questions.

Proven in our methods

Meet the team

Cyrus Afkhami

Cyrus studied at Eton College before attending Oxford University, where he graduated with a Double First class degree in History and Modern Languages.

As well as running and expanding the business, Cyrus still dedicates a limited number of hours per week to tutoring and he teaches the 11+ revision courses. This allows him to stay fully up to date on the latest academic developments, school requirements and the current concerns of students and parents. He has now clocked over 6,000 hours of tutoring experience.

Cyrus started tutoring one student in September 2011. Over the next 12 months, and by expanding only through word of mouth, he had taught over 50 students. In October 2012, he established My Tutor Club in order to help ignite more students with a love of learning and to help them reach their full potential.

Prior to founding My Tutor Club, Cyrus worked in investment banking at Lehman Brothers and Citigroup. After 3 years in the City, he resigned from banking to return to his real passion – education.

In 2015, Cyrus was nominated as Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Great British Entrepreneur Awards. He has been featured on numerous occasions by national and international media as an authority on tutoring and UK education. His regular blog posts cover all aspects of education including tutoring, education technology and education policy.

William Rees
Educational Expert

Mr Rees has over 35 years’ experience in UK education. He was a House Master at Eton College for 14 years (1987-2001), and was then appointed Head of Admissions for the school (2001-09). While Head of Admissions at Eton, Mr Rees developed a modernised and meritocratic form of assessment at age 11 for entry to the school at age 13, and he was consulted by many other schools seeking to follow Eton’s pioneering example.

Since taking early retirement from Eton in 2009, he has been working as an independent consultant to senior schools where he advises on admissions and marketing strategy, structures, processes and communications, including the training of interviewers.

Since 2012 Mr Rees has been working with My Tutor Club offering independent guidance and advice to parents on their UK education options as well as offering bespoke one-to-one interview practice for candidates applying to UK schools at 11+, 13+ and 16+.
