UK School Interview Practice
Practice interview technique, improve your confidence, boost your performance and brush away any nerves with My Tutor Club's school interview practice sessions. Improve your child’s school interview performance with one-to-one interview practice with the former Head of Admissions at Eton College.
About the Interview Practice
One-to-one and tailored to the school you are applying to: Interview practice sessions are one-to-one and tailored to the school(s) that each child is applying to. Interview practice is designed for students applying to the leading UK private schools at ages 11, 13 or 16.
Bring out the best in each student: We help students to flourish in terms of conveying their own unique personality, interests, awareness of the world around them, intellectual engagement and all-round potential.
Boost Confidence: School interviews can be a really daunting thought for most students, especially if it’s their first one. Our mock interview sessions help boost a student’s confidence in public speaking and in conversing with an unfamiliar adult so that he/she is relaxed and self-assured during the real interview.
Our Approach
- We do not tell students “what to say.” Our goal is to guide students on how to clearly communicate their own individual enthusiasms, backgrounds and ideas. We guide students on how to think independently, on how to answer interview questions in a mature and sincere way and how to bring out what is unique about them in a clear a way.
- We are impartial. We pride ourselves on being completely independent and free of any conflicts of interest. Your interests and aspirations are our top priority.
- Feedback: depending on the format you choose, feedback is either in the form of a detailed report or in-person feedback with parents present
About the interviewer
Mr Rees has over 35 years’ experience in UK private education, almost all spent at Eton College. In addition to being a teacher at Eton, Mr Rees was an Eton Housemaster for 14 years (1987-2001) before becoming Head of Admissions for the school in 2001 until 2009. While Head of Eton Admissions, he developed a modernised and meritocratic form of assessment at age 11 for entry to the school at age 13, and was consulted by many other schools seeking to follow Eton’s pioneering example.
Since taking early retirement from Eton in 2009, he has been working as an independent consultant to senior schools. He advises on admissions and marketing strategy, structures, processes and communications, including the training of interviewers.
Since 2012, Mr Rees has been working with My Tutor Club offering both school interview practice to students and Schools Advisory sessions for parents.
Over the last 3 years our students have won entry to the leading schools in the UK such as Eton College, Westminster, Winchester, St Paul’s, Harrow, Wycombe Abbey, King’s College Wimbledon and Cheltenham Ladies’ College to name just a few.
